The Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon is the highest marathon in the world and starts at 5,356m above sea level from Expedition Base Camp right at the edge of Khumbu Icefall with a backdrop of Everest, Lhotse and Lola Pass. The course criss-crosses the Sherpa village trails of Lobuje, Pheriche, Dingboche, Thyangboche, Khumjung, Khunde and finally Namche Bazaar covering the distance 42.195 kms. It follows the route pioneered by the late Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary while climbing Everest in 1953. Runners will run passed the highest Glaciers and Moraines in the world, pass many monasteries (such as the renowned Heritage Site Tengboche Monastery) and monuments, cross suspension bridges, meander through the Rhododendron Forest and Wild Orchard Grove, one of the the most beautiful landscapes in the world inhabited by legendary sherpa climbers. Runners will be going through 3 check points before crossing the finish line. In order to secure your package to the Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon a non-refundable deposit of AU$550 per person is required.
