Competitors will run the "forty-two southernmost kilometres in the world", tracing a route with a stimulating environmental value. The start will be from Bahía Lapataia, a bay within the Tierra del Fuego National Park, at the very southernmost extreme of the American Continent, to which access will be gained aboard special catamarans.
The first 18.5 kilometres will be run on rough unsealed roads (made from loose pebbles), through the typical Fuegan woods and forests, and then onto the southernmost roads of the planet, along the coast of the Beagle Channel, ending at the port of Ushuaia along the seafront.
The highest point of the entire Marathon is 145mtrs above sea level.
