Runners head north along Batman Avenue; left into Flinders Street, left into Swanston Street, cross to northbound (west side) service lane at Princes Bridge and then head along St Kilda Road to Fitzroy Street, turn right into Lakeside Drive, left into Albert Road and right at Beaconsfield Parade before U-turning at Pickles St (12km) leading back towards St Kilda.
At the Beaconsfield Parade intersection with Jacka Boulevard, runners will veer right and head out to Sandringham using Jacka Boulevard, Marine Parade, Ormond Esplanade, St Kilda Esplanade and Beach Road.
The turnaround point for marathon runners is 140m prior to Hampton St and Beach Rd intersection . Runners then follow the traditional course back to Fitzroy Street, turn left into the St Kilda Road northbound service lanes and continue to Princes Bridge, where they cross sides before turning right into Flinders St (westbound lanes).
Runners then veer right into Wellington Parade South, turn right into Jolimont Rd and continue along Brunton Avenue before entering the MCG off Brunton Avenue at the Gate C Tunnel. Runners then will run an anti-clockwise lap of the MCG before finishing in front of the MCC Members Stand.

All events will commence at 8.00am. Competitors are asked to arrive 1 hour before your event starts.

- Intersection of Kerferd Rd and Canterbury Rd (10km) 9am (1hr 30mins)
- Hampton St turnaround (25km) 10.45am (3hrs 15min)
- Intersection of Fitzroy Street and St Kilda Road (35km) 12noon (4hrs 30 mins)
- Fed Square (40km) 12.45pm (5hrs 15mins)
- Finish Gate C entry into MCG 2pm (6hrs 30mins)
The Windag timing chip system will be used at this year's event.
All Australian competitors will be sent their race packs (race bib, timing chip and info sheet) prior to Race Day. International competitors and all entries received from 25SEP 2008 will need to collect their race packs from the MCG on race week (Enter via Gate 1).

There will be drink stations every 2.5km on the marathon course, with water available at all stations, and ENDURA sports drink available every 5km.
There will be a facility to check in your warm clothing etc at each race start and clothing bags will be transported back and available for collection from the "Samsung Marathon Village" adjacent to the Arts Centre Spire. Each competitors' warm clothing will be packed into a shopping bag and their race number written on the outside of the bag.
Plastic bags and markers will be at all start lines, but feel free to bring your own and avoid the hassle. Bags will then be placed in numbered boxes and we ask each competitor to remember what box number there bag is in to collect there warm clothing at the Finish Line.
The "Samsung Marathon Village" will be set up on the grassed area adjacent to the Arts Centre and Finish Line. This area is for all to enjoy, relax and soak up the event atmosphere while waiting for friends and family to finish. Food and beverage outlets will be available in this area.
Buses to the start of each event will depart from outside the Arts Centre on Race morning. Tickets for buses are available for purchase when completing your entry form via the website and all bus tickets must be pre-purchased.
All participant will receive a Finishers medal as they cross the finish line. Marathon competitors will receive a personalised finishers certificate via the mail post event. Half Marathon and MaraFun competitors will be able to download a finishers certificate from the website.
