Mountaineering
Our mountaineering programmes involve trekking on remote trails in variable conditions for up to eight to twelve hours a day. They include travel on snow and ice requiring the use of mountaineering boots, crampons and ice axe. Expect to carry up to 12-15kgs in your rucksack on various stages of the expedition. You will spend a reasonable portion of the trip at altitude (with some days in excess of 5500m) and normally have several camps on glaciers. You will need an excellent level of fitness and be completely comfortable in adverse weather conditions in remote areas. Suggested preparation: One hour of aerobic type exercise, four to five times a week for six months leading up to your trek. Hill walking with a pack in variable weather conditions is also recommended.
