Australian Outback Half Marathon

Three years of dreaming about coming to Uluru and competing in an event at the Outback marathon finally realised. Drove with friends from Qld to Yulara. The event and set up exceeded all my expectations . First time entering a half marathon - the location was stunning and the friendliness of staff and the organisation of the whole event excellent. Standout - Uluru at Sunrise, the Field of Light & the beauty of the event course .

In 2019 I took a chance and booked for the Australian Outback Marathon with Travelling Fit. I was a bit apprehensive about bringing my son and his young family along with me as I felt the kids might have to miss out on a lot of the "adult" activities. I was wrong. This was THE MOST AMAZING and mind-blowing experience we have had as a family. I can't praise the whole trip highly enough. The food was absolutely amazing, staff were great, the accommodation was perfect and the race was unbelievable. I get emotional when I think about it, and can't imagine having another experience like this again. Everyone loved it, the food was AMAZING, activities and transfers were so well organized, there was plenty to do and it really wasn't that cold! If you have the chance to do this or are undecided, do it! I'll be going back. Thank you Travelling Fit for one of the top ten experiences of my life so far xxx

A dream that has come true. Before leaving for the Australian outback, I would never have imagined running in these fairy-tale landscapes, on this red earth, with a cobalt blue sky, savouring the scent of absolute freedom, in the silence of nature, where the only noise was that of my breath. It was a journey with myself and I will always carry this experience inside myself. Perfect organisation, impeccable with people who, with an incredible passion and a unique kindness, gave me the opportunity to experience this indelible experience.

The weekend was probably the best weekend I’ve had in Australia since I arrived here almost 5 years ago. From the moment that I landed to being dropped off at the airport, I wanted for nothing and everything had been thought of by you guys. The tours that I went on were incredible and so well organised. The hotel was spot on, with a really relaxed atmosphere and decent breakfast.

The marathon itself was easily my favourite one that I have done to date (and that was #9). The setting is just magical and the atmosphere on course and at the start/finish line was amazing. It was a pleasure to be in the company of the Travelling Fit team in the Outback Pioneer Pub the night after the marathon, hearing stories of the day and generally having a good time. The clientele at the event also contributed to the amazing energy of the weekend, talking to people about marathons in North Korea and South Africa was brilliant. The ‘Sounds of Silence’ Celebration dinner was an epic way to cap off a truly magical weekend.

I’ve been raving about the weekend to anyone that will listen this week and have already started thinking about whether I can do it all again next year. To you all, thank you so much for an incredible experience. I’ll sum up my experience with this: after 4 hours running in that heat, I’m bouncing across the finish line with a massive smile on my face!!!

Australian Outback Marathon 2018 - a magical experience even before landing.

That it is different from all the others that I have done I understand it by looking out the window, seeing Uluru, the sacred mountain, which stands out, alone, in a fantastic landscape. The organization thinks of everything, attentive to any problems and putting you at ease as if I had done with them this marathon dozens of times (just do not know how they always remember my name). The race is unique, especially when after 20 km the group breaks and practically you find yourself running alone in a magical environment, which changes colour with the passing of the hours. An incredible atmosphere, on land that in some short stretches is sandy but never ever difficult, with everyone ready to incite you and always with a smile.

Definitely the most beautiful and the most different I've ever done!
