
Mari-Mar Walton, the founder of Travelling Fit, has always had a passion for travelling and she has made the travel industry her career for all of her working life.
After completing her Travel qualifications, Mari-Mar joined the Jetset travel group, where she learnt about the travel industry from the ground up. Starting as a Fares consultant, she quickly moved to become the Senior Groups and Fares Coordinator. After taking a year off to work at the 1992 Seville Universal Expo and the Barcelona Olympics in Spain, she returned to Australia to take up a position with Consolidated Travel where she took on the role of National fares Coordinator.
Mari-Mar also has experience as a Retail Office Manager of a Sydney based Travel company prior to founding Travelling Fit in November 2000 to fill a need with runners where no such service or industry had existed before.
Mari-Mar is a keen runner, completing her first Marathon in Sydney in 1996, and since that time she has competed in a large number of different Marathons in such diverse places as Morocco, China, New York, London, Rio, South Africa and Greenland to name but a few. Mari-Mar has also participated in Ultra Marathons and Multi-Stage Events completing 3 Comrades Marathons (89kms) in South Africa, 3 Marathon des Sables (240km stage race) in the Moroccan Sahara Desert and the most recent the Hida Takayama Ultra (72km) in Japan and the 2015 Tokyo Marathon (her second finishers medal)
Mari-Mar is an active member of the Terrigal Trotters running club and with her husband Michael and children Emma and Henry she continues to travel and run Marathons, Ultras and Multi-Stage events all over the world.
