I was extremely fortunate to be able to attend the 50th anniversary running of the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC in late October 2025.

Known as ‘the People’s marathon’, it hosted by the United States Marines and runs throughout the streets of Washington, starting near the Pentagon, passing the Capitol and finishing near Arlington National Cemetery. Serving Marines hand you your bib, cheer you along the run, hand you drinks at the aid stations and put the finishers medal around your neck! Running down remembrance Avenue was particularly emotional, with photos and details of fallen marines lining both sides of the track, followed by hundreds of US flags and family members of the fallen. The weather was perfect for running. We also got to do a tour of most of the iconic sites of Washington with a friendly and knowledgeable local guide which was fantastic. Special thanks to Travelling Fit who hosted us so well; extremely caring, professional and friendly… ensuring that, like the Marines motto ‘Always faithful‘ and ‘Don’t leave anyone behind!’.

This was a wonderful event with a great ‘vibe’, and I highly recommend doing this trip with Travelling Fit if you get the opportunity to do so.
