Travelling Fit is proud to be the official Australian sales representatives for the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon and we have been sending people to this beautiful part of the world to run for 19 years.
We are pleased to be able to offer a variety of trek options with varying routes to get to Everest Base Camp prior to theĀ Marathon event taking place.
The options include:
- Lodge Option: The regular Lodge option will allow limited participants to fly in and out of Lukla on regular scheduled flights and trek to Everest Base Camp to start the race. Once the race is completed at Namche Bazaar, the participants will walk down to Lukla and take a flight back to Kathmandu via Ramechap to conclude the Event.
- Gokyo Valley Trek: An extraordinary experience that takes participants to Gokyo Lake at 4,800m, a hike to Gokyo Ri at 5,357m, and requires crossing the impressive Cho-La Pass at 5,367m. Witnessing astonishing views of mountains from Gokyo Ri and Cho-La Pass, participants get to hike to Kalapattar (5,545 m) to take in the grand view of Mt. Everest close up.
- Island Peak: Designed for extreme adventure lovers which gives the opportunity to climb Island Peak at 6189m.
- Heli In-Out: For those with limited time, this package allows competitors to be flown by helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla and from Namche Bazaar back to Kathmandu but still experience the trek to Everest Base Camp.

The Course
The 70KM UTEM (Ultra Trail Everest Marathon) 70th Everest Platinum Jubilee Anniversary Celebration Trail RUN is for Extreme Adventure runners. The Ultra Trail Everest Marathon starts from Everest Base Camp and ends at Namche Bazaar like the Full Marathon.
However, the 70KM Ultra Marathon course takes the longer loop out to Chhukung and continues via Pangboche turning off towards Phortse. The course then heads out towards Nha-La for the turn around. From Nha-La the course descends down to Machermo and Dole with a further decent before a climb to Mongla and a further decent towards Namche Bazaar, making it an Ultimate Adventure Trail Run.

The Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon Everest Marathon is the most challenging and worldās highest marathon in the world, itās started from near the famous Khumbu Ice Fall at Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters above sea level) and the finish was at Namche Bazar (3,440 meters above sea level). Due to the heavy snowfall the starting point was changed in concerned with the safety of the runners. Nepali athlete Sudip Kulung 26 clinched the title of the 12th Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon completing 42.19 km race in 3 hour 52 minute 9 second on Thursday as Nepali athlete continued their dominance in the highest altitude marathon claiming all top ten positions.
Race Information
Entry Fees
Entries are only applicable in conjunction with an Extreme Ultra Marathon package.
Qualifying Times
There are no qualifying times required for this event BUT each participant will require a Health Certificate from their doctor stating that you are physically able to participate in an Ultra-Marathon at high altitude and on this type of terrain.
All non-runners must have previous hiking experience on varied mountainous terrain.
Start Time
The Tenzing-Hillary Everest Extreme Ultra Marathon will commence at 5:00am from Everest Base Camp. The exact time will be confirmed at Base Camp.
Cut-Off Times
The Extreme Ultra Marathon has a cut off at Pangboche checkpoint at 11.30am.
There is a second cut off at Machhermo where competitors must arrive no later than 5.00pm.
Runners who are unable to make either of these cut offs will be recorded as a DNF.
The Ultra Marathon has a total cut off time of 19 hours.
Race Timing
There will be Race officials at all checkpoints checking your progress and marking your time.
Race Packets
Race Packets include the official Tenzing Hillary Everest race event T-shirt and your Race Number which will be distributed at the briefing in Kathmandu.
Pace Setters
There are no official pace setters in this event.
Aid Stations
Water will be supplied along the course and light food provided at Dingboche and Machermo.
Fruit will be available at Pangboche Junction.
Personal Refreshments and Clothing
Personal drinks will not be available along the course. If you have a preference to a sports drink or any food, you must carry that with you during the event.
Extra clothing at the start line is to be given to the Sherpas/Porters which will ensure their safe arrival at the finishing point.
Travelling Fit will provide a list of compulsory items that need to be carried during the event.
Transport
All transport required on this tour is included in the price of the package.
Expo
Not Applicable.
Finishers T-Shirts, Medals and Certificates
All finishers will receive a Certificate, Medal and a race T-shirts.
